Tipperary Volleyball Centre of Excellence   20/02/2017

The VAI are moving forward on a project to find the Irish talent needed to compete in future international tournaments. Please read on for further info as well as the brief flyer below

Please feel free to share with as many students/adults/parents/volunteers as you think may want to get on board.

It all starts Saturday March 11th in Patrician Presentation, Fethard.( 2pm - 4pm) The Irish youth coaches will be coming down from Dublin to host a 45 minute Q & A / presentation and also to take advice and listen to your thoughts and ideas on how to develop this project. Then also host a 1 hour fun session with the kids.

In a nut shell we want to create a volleyball centre of excellence that will grow to help nurture the talent that is coming through in Tipperary.

We will use this centre of excellence to extract the players needed for the international tournaments that the Irish team compete in. (for the first particular tournament in mind we are searching for girls born after January 1st 2004 to train together and compete in Europe 2019 - However there will be many other tournaments as well for all ages to take part in)

In order for this to be achieved we will need people in the community. This doesn't mean they have to have experience with volleyball so please everyone is welcome next week experienced or not. We are hopeful that many parents of players will come to the meeting. We recently set up a centre in Clare and we were able to run Coaching Ireland Intro to volleyball coaching courses for these volunteers that wanted to advance their knowledge and help grow volleyball in the community.

Hopefully 10 centres will be set up around the country so all participants young and old can compete together for fun and on a more serious level. The Irish coaches will attend each centre quarterly to run a session with the group and keep an eye for any emerging talent that may be included in the national squad. It is up to volunteers to keep the centre going the rest of the time which is why we are hoping to have a meeting and discuss any queries for the future. Centres will also be involved in competitions arranged by the VAI.

If you are interested please email your name along to and I will add you to the list and also be able to notify you if any changes happen between now and then. Don't forget to bring the younger ones along for a fun 1 hour session with the Irish coaches.
