NORTH VS SOUTH FEMALE FINALS
This Bank Holiday weekend will see our Girls face off against the Northern Ireland teams in the school’s annual Champion of Champion’s tournament. Two games can be viewed on Saturday April 29th at 12pm (under 16) and again at 2pm (under 18). All spectators are encouraged to come as long as any younger ones have adult supervision with them at all times. The venue this year is in St Mary’s College, Nass and the college team is representing the South in the Under 18 category.
St Mary’s College qualified for the match by not only going unbeaten in the Senior A division this year but doing it in a remarkable style by not losing one set throughout the league. They will be aiming for a spectacular league and cup double that week as they have our own Senior Cup final against their neighbouring Holy Family S.S of Newbridge just three days before Dalrida visit.
In the Under 16 match, the south will be represented by Colaiste Muire, Ennis. It is their first time to compete in the North VS South however they are becoming increasingly familiar with finals as the school made both the Senior and Cadette A finals this year. They also amazingly went unbeaten throughout the season and overcame St Raphael’s College 2-1 in the under 16 final to clear the way for this upcoming event.
Both southern teams will face strong opposition from Dalriada School, Ballymoney. The northern school won both the Under 16 and Under 18 in their own leagues demonstrating their strength and pedigree when it comes to school volleyball. They will be looking to also get one back on St Mary’s as they lost to them in the Under 18 final this time last year.
Best of luck Girls!
