Mini Spikers (1st-4th Class) Mini Spikers is our FUN-damental movement programme which develops physical literacy in an inclusive and fun environment. The workshop and resources will introduce the leader to the skills and thrills of teaching the very basics of Volleyball. Mini-Spikers is the first stage in Volleyball Ireland’s LTAD (Long -Term Athlete Development) pathway and is perfect for children aged 6-9 years old, making it ideal programme for primary school teachers.
SpikeBall (5th & 6th Class / 1st & 2nd Year) This fast-paced team sport is a progression of Mini Spikers. The programme introduces the 3 touches and adopts the ‘catch & throw’ as the second touch. This game is hugely popular across Ireland with over 450 Primary School teams currently participating in the SpikeBall Primary School National Competition. SpikeBall is a great introduction to Volleyball. Our schools competition offers a great progression for participants, with various competitions for all abilities. The workshop provides teachers and coaches with the knowledge and resources to develop a progressive SpikeBall programme in schools.
Mini Volleyball (Secondary School) The final leg of our development journey leaves us at Volleyball, a world renowned team sport. There are Junior, Cadet and Senior Volleyball competitions operating within schools across Ireland. The competition system is broken into three ability levels, providing ability based progressions for enjoyment. The workshop teaches the skills, rules and games of Volleyball one of the most popular school sports in the world.
Sitting Volleyball (ParaVolley) Sitting Volleyball is played at a blistering pace in the Paralympics Games. Sitting Volleyball is inclusive allowing anyone of any ability to play, meaning it’s perfect for schools and community groups. This programme is always well received by established disability groups around Ireland and allows teachers and coaches to ensure their programmes are inclusive.
