Volleyball Ireland are looking for a Women’s National Team Head Coach.

The voluntary position provides an opportunity to create an impact and leave a profound legacy on Irish Volleyball.

ROLE PURPOSE

  • To create and deliver a systemic athlete centred performance programme for female Volleyball players in Ireland, including overseeing the implementation of a High Performance pathway programme for Junior players from u17 age group up
  • Work closely with the u19 and u17 Team Head Coaches to identify potential Senior Team players of the future
  • Support the development and mentoring of other Volleyball Coaches

 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the Women’s Volleyball National Team Coaching plan
  • Provide input into the development of annual operational plans for Volleyball National Teams
  • Uphold the policies and values of Volleyball Ireland and demonstrate these in all communications and activities
  • Develop, deliver and communicate a High Performance athlete centred programme of training and competition for the Ireland Senior Women’s Volleyball Squad
  • Coordinate a player Strength and Conditioning programme in partnership with suitably qualified professionals
  • Develop relationships with Volleyball Ireland club coaches and other National Team Head Coaches for Volleyball and Beach Volleyball
  • Manage relevant Assistant Coaches, Team Managers and/or other support staff
  • Work closely with Volleyball Ireland’s development team and High Performance Commission
  • Build a culture of High Performance and continuous development within the Women’s squad
  • Attend competitions both domestically and Internationally
  • Work in partnership with the Women’s Team Manager when participating in International Competitions, taking responsibility for the submission of relevant paperwork and documentation such as BV-1 Health Certificates and Anti-Doping diploma forms.
  • Work with the Volleyball Office to coordinate travel to International competitions and camps
  • Prioritise the safety and welfare of all athletes and staff members while on the programme
  • Help raise the profile of the National Team by assisting with the production of social media and website content
  • Design a programme of training incorporating athlete development of technical, tactical, physical and mental skills
  • Implement individual development plans for all athletes on the Women’s Volleyball programme
  • To uphold the Volleyball Ireland selection policy including supplying timely feedback on all selections and deselections
  • Oversee the development of a Performance Camp for Junior players in conjunction with other coaches
  • Work with Commission partners and management teams to deliver a fundraising programme
  • To empower the Team Manager, Assistant Coaches and support staff to fulfil their roles
  • To work closely with the General Manager to ensure the programme is delivered on budget
  • To provide a quarterly report on progress to date

ESTIMATED TIME COMMITMENTS (to be discussed in more detail at interview stage)

  • It is expected that the Head Coach will plan and deliver 1 x 2hr evening training sessions per week, and 1 x 5hr weekend training sessions per month for Senior Squad Players. This will increase in the build up to Competitions
  • Attend monthly High Performance Commission meetings (can be done through Skype etc)
  • Be available to deliver 5 full days of Coaching on the Jnr Performance Camps each year
  • Attend Volleyball Ireland Association Cup Final, Awards Evening and International Team Presentation Evening
  • Attend selection meetings (4 per year)
  • Attend the St Patricks Day Tournament each year (1day)
  • Attend bi-ennial Small Countries Association Tournaments (4days)

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
The successful candidate must:
• Be a Volleyball Ireland Registered Coach (Grade 1), or hold a recognised Volleyball coaching award or equivalent qualification from another Federation
• Commit to completing a Safeguarding and Protecting Children workshop
• Have time to commit to the role
• Sign and abide by Volleyball Ireland Code of Conduct and Policies
