Youth National League Key Points:

The Youth National League is for players aged under 16. There are separate leagues for Boys & Girls.
The intention is that the Youth National League will operate on a regional basis, with the top teams in each region playing-off in a grand finals style event at the end of the season.

Games are played every 3or4 weeks, with multiple matches in one venue.

As a point of reference, you can check out last year’s competition rules here > https://www.volleyballireland.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/u16-competitons-22-23-.pdf

A cup competition will be held after Xmas.

A 4v4 u14 blitz style tour will also be held, with registrations opening later this Summer.

Regional Development League Key Points:

The Development League is a great bridge between Recreational competitions, the youth league and the National League. It provides a great opportunity to participate regularly as clubs and players build towards National League entry. For some clubs it provides a great chance to mentor younger players, as they share the court with more experienced players. It also provides a perfect environment to develop coaches and referees.

The rules are more relaxed compared to the National League. The intention is the Development League operates on a regional basis cutting down on travel, time and cost commitments.

National League Key Points:

The National League is our flagship competition. There are three Divisions for Men and three for Women. With 8 teams in each division there are 14 matches across the season with end of season playoffs.

New clubs will typically enter at D2, but the NLMC reserve the right to consider requests for entry at Premier or Division One level. As D2 expands, there is the potential of having a regional element at this level.

Clubs should read last year’s competition rules to understand the criteria for entry – this includes an adequate number of referees and facilities.
