Volleyball Ireland is excited to welcome Megan Burgdorf to Ireland May 9th – May 12th.
Megan has a wealth of knowledge and experience in working with beach athletes at all levels. She is the former Manager of Beach High-Performance for USA Volleyball (USAV, 2015-2018), the world’s greatest Olympic pipeline for beach volleyball. There she identified, evaluated and trained the country’s most elite junior and collegiate beach athletes that demonstrated national, international and Olympic competencies and aspirations. During her time at USAV, Team USA reached the medal matches internationally in each age group world championship and the Youth Olympic Games from 2016-2018.
As a Co-Founder of Beach Volleyball Consulting (2019), Megan is driving support services for athletes, coaches and organizers in the pursuit of continued development in the sport of beach volleyball. The company is committed to revolutionizing and contributing to the international growth of the sport by nurturing a professional network and tailoring solutions that deliver sustainable offerings at all levels.
Megan also does a variety of commentary for beach volleyball for the Pro Beach Tour, AVP and collegiate matches. She recently started a new YouTube show called GRIT, that covers all things in beach.
Megan grew up in Ohio and competed for Cleveland State University where she majored in Psychology. She later coached Women’s volleyball at Walsh University while completing her Master’s in Counseling and Human Development. She moved to Dublin, Ireland where she was the Men’s and Women’s Head Coach for Volleyball at the University College of Dublin as well as the Beach National Teams (2007-2015). As a player in Ireland she won numerous All-Ireland Championships and the Beach Volleyball Ireland Tour from 2013-14.
Currently a resident in Hermosa Beach, Megan is currently coaching with USA Volleyball in their National Team Development Program. She is also an assistant coach for Redondo Union High School’s girls beach program.
