Ireland Clinch Bronze at SCA Women’s Volleyball Championship in Dublin
DUBLIN, IRELAND – Ireland’s women’s volleyball team delivered a series of electrifying performances at the 2025 SCA Women’s Championship presented by Spanish Point Technologies, held this past weekend in Dublin, securing a bronze medal on home soil and thrilling local fans with passion, grit, and skill.
The tournament featured standout moments for Team Ireland, none more memorable than their dramatic comeback victory over Iceland, where they overcame a 14–11 deficit in the fifth-set tiebreak to seize the win. Their campaign also included a dominant 3–0 sweep against Northern Ireland, showcasing depth and control across the court. A tight game with San Marino ended 3-nil to the visitors, in a game that could have gone either way.
Ireland’s momentum carried into a gripping match against eventual champions Scotland, where they claimed the first set in style and pushed the favourites to the edge in front of an enthusiastic home crowd. Scotland came back strong to edge it 16-25, 28-26, 25-19, 25-23.
Fiona Rigby’s consistency and intensity earned her a spot in the tournament’s prestigious Super7 Team, while Grace Moloney shone in the libero position with a string of superb defensive displays. Team leaders Regina Halpin and Emily Frazell praised the “brilliant home support” throughout the weekend, crediting the Dublin fans for lifting the team’s energy and spirit.
Head Coach Mark Delahunty expressed pride in the squad’s resilience and performance:
