Volleyball Ireland is delighted to announce the appointment of Tony Westman as Performance Director.
Tony will play a key role in shaping and strengthening the High-Performance system across both indoor and beach programmes. His responsibilities will include:
- Leading the development of the High-Performance pathway and framework
- Designing strategies to enhance performance across Development Centres and National Teams
- Establishing clear selection criteria and performance metrics
- Supporting and mentoring National Team coaches
- Delivering coach education programmes, including FIVB Level 1 & 2 courses
- Developing systems, planning tools, and talent identification processes
- Ensuring athlete welfare.
His appointment represents a major step in aligning performance, coaching, and pathway development across Volleyball Ireland.
Performance Director, Toney Westman commented:
‘I am looking forward working with Volleyball Ireland to keep improving the National Teams and reaching higher than ever. There is a lot of potential in the Teams and in the Volleyball community, and now we just need to keep working hard and have all eyes on EuroVolley 2032.’
High Performance Commission Member, Elisabeth Rae added:
