Beach Coach Vacancy

Thanks to funding from the FIVB and support from Sport Ireland, we are inviting applications for an exciting full-time role as Volleyball Ireland’s Beach Volleyball Programme Manager & Head Coach.

With a multi-cultural membership, strong schools programme and dedicated volunteers operating at all levels of the game we are excited about our future growth.

We have recently developed a high-performance framework that will guide the growth of our National Teams over the next decade.

We are now ready to employ an energetic, passionate, and skilled coach to help continue the sport’s rise, raising on court standards across the Irish system.

The successful candidate will be Ireland’s Head Beach Volleyball Coach, and manage Ireland’s Beach Volleyball High Performance Programme. This role will have a measurable impact from grassroots participation to high performance.

The Beach Volleyball Programme Manager & Head Coach will be an important position with the ability to impact strategy through engagement with the Volleyball Ireland Board and Commissions and will be in a position to make a difference to communities, clubs and people across Ireland.

This is an opportunity to leave a significant impact on a growing and ambitious Federation, which was named the NGB of the Year at the Irish Sport Industry Awards and presented as the CEV Best Practice National Federation in 2021.

Key Responsibilities:
• Development of a Beach Volleyball Performance system for Volleyball Ireland.
• Act as Head Coach of Ireland’s National Beach Volleyball Teams.
• Establish a progressive Player Pathway, giving Irish players the best chance to reach their potential and perform at a high level.
• Be a role model that sets a positive culture of continuous development and education.
• Working closely with the Volleyball Ireland High Performance Commission to ensure that Volleyball Ireland’s Long Term Player Development model is being implemented at all levels of the sport.
• To play a key role on the High Performance Commission to ensure that the High Performance Framework is being delivered effectively.
• To mentor and support all Performance Coaches throughout the pathway.
• Develop a process and programme for Talent ID, as well as a standardised system of monitoring technical Beach Volleyball ability.
• To develop a range of support services such as S&C, sports science and statistics to help National Team players and management teams advance their levels of performance.
• To develop relationships and partnerships with other National Federations and professional clubs.
• To organise and oversee the implementation of Performance Camps both in Ireland and abroad.
• Oversee Volleyball Ireland’s Beach Volleyball National Academy & Regional Development Centre programme.
• Identify an appropriate calendar of tournaments for National Teams.
• Be the performance representative on the Beach Tour Management Committee.
• Work with the Education & Training Commission to identify areas of development of the Beach Coaching pathway.
• Provide key support to the CEO in regard to strategic planning and operational implementation of annual plans.
• Foster strong relationships with the VLY Board, Commissions and the wider Volleyball community in addition to external representatives of funding bodies and of other organisations associated with Volleyball Ireland.
• Ensure the correct implementation of key policies and processes such as the Complaints & Disciplinary Policy, National Team Player Agreement.
• Manage the Beach Volleyball Performance Budget.

Experience & Knowledge:
• Proven experience coaching high-level Volleyball either domestically or internationally.
• Extensive experience coaching young players, ideally at National Federation level.
• Proven ability to lead and inspire teams in the delivery of sports programmes, events and activities in line with strategic objectives.
• Experience in contributing to budgeting processes and delivering programme, events and activities in line with budgets.
• Knowledge of key principles of good governance processes.
• Knowledge of the sporting sector and how it operates.
• Understanding of the context within Irish Beach Volleyball.
