Beach Tour Launch

The 2023 VLY Beach Tour is here.

This Summer’s edition will feature five regular tour events plus the exciting King & Queen of the Court which proved a huge success at last year’s pilot event. They’ll also be two new innovative editions:

For the first time ever Volleyball Ireland will be hosting a Beach Volleyball Club Championship, with the winning club going on to represent in European Competition.

This event will be held at a new location, with Wicklow’s stunning Brittas Bay hosting for the first time. Volleyball Ireland Development Manager Conor Flood said, “Developing Beach Volley clubs is a priority in our new strategic plan. To support that we’ll providing equipment like nets and balls but also entering European Volleyball’s first ever Club Championship, we hope that will really inspire groups to create a Beach Volleyball Club.”

The tournament will follow the Nations Cup style format with two teams representing each club. It is expected that the winners of every European Club Championship will gather in Southern Europe in October for the Club Championships.

Another new development is the Challenger Series which will drive more participation and meaningful matches outside of regular and organised tour events. This format will have a single gender rankings and a mixed element. Full details will be revealed soon.

Whilst the initial calendar is set, clubs and groups are invited to host 1&2* events. More information on the supports available can be requested from Volleyball Ireland Operations Manager Simon Dyke via info@volleyballireland.com

Details on the Junior Tour will be announced later this week.
