Grainne Culliton Elected to Board of European Small Countries Association

Former Volleyball Ireland President Grainne Culliton has been elected to the Executive Board of the European Small Countries Association, at Friday’s General Assembly in Katowice, Poland.

The Ballymun Patriots setter was elected unopposed alongside Malta’s Branko Vlahovic and will join Helgi Thorsteinsson (Iceland), Federico Valentini (San Marino) and Niclas Joensen (Faroe Islands) on the committee. Grainne said “I’m delighted to be elected to the SCA Ex-Com and I’m really looking forward to working with Helgi and the team to further develop the SCA movement. With a full calendar of competition coming it promises to be an exciting few years for our 14 member Federations.”

Commenting on Grainne’s appointment, Volleyball Ireland President Clodagh NicCanna added, “It’s one of the key objectives in our current strategy to have International Committee representation and I think this election really gives Ireland an important voice in the development of the Small Countries Association. Grainne has given excellent service to Volleyball Ireland over the years and it makes perfect sense for the International community to utilise her skills and experience.”

Grainne will be in place until the next legislative elections in 2023.
