Mikal is well known not only in Mayo VC but also around Mayo and the volleyball community. Mikal started the Mayo VC with Edel Gilligan and in their first season they won the league undefeated.
Even with three children, Mikal remains dedicated to volleyball. Just before lockdown she was playing and training a school in Kiltimagh along with the Mayo VC juniors. Mikal is truly an ambassador for volleyball in Mayo with schools from Ballyhaunis and Ballina seeking the Irish vice-captain to train their school teams.
Mikal’s volleyball ability has most recently been acknowledged with the role of Senior Womens vice-captain. A massive achievement for Mikal but she will tell you that getting Mayo VC up and running is her biggest achievement in volleyball.
