Ireland to host u20 Men’s SCA Champs

Ireland will host the 2024 u20 Men’s Small Countries Association Championships.

The five team event also acts as the first round European Championship Qualifiers, with the SCA winners qualifying directly to the European Championship finals to be held in Greece & Serbia in July.

Volleyball Ireland Chief Executive Gary Stewart said, “We’re delighted to host the u20 Boys event in late January, which will build on the successful 2022 version we held here. It’s important we host International events to raise the profile of the sport and contribute to the Small Countries Association programme. This 3-day tournament will be a great building block for hosting the u20 Women’s European Championships next August. Thank you to CEV and the SCA Executive for putting faith in our hosting skills.”

Led by Head Coach Alessandra Trio, the youngsters will be entertaining Northern Ireland, Gibraltar, San Marino and Scotland, playing in a 3-day round robin at the Sport Ireland Campus, Dublin from Friday January 26-28th. The Irish team will enter the competition buoyed by a brilliant 3:2 win over Scotland which saw a dramatic comeback in the fifth set. They’ll be cranking up preparations with return fixtures in Glasgow before Christmas.

Tickets for the event will be on sale soon.
