VLY welcome home Declan Ryan, Julio Rico and Antonio Barros from the CEV Coaches Convention held this past weekend in Kranjska Gora, Slovenia. The event enabled our Irish representatives to join up with as many as 164 coaches and physical education teachers from all over Europe and the world.
Over the weekend our three coaches engaged in theoretical and practical sessions to learn amongst other topics, getting creative with limited resources as well as teaching kids how to lose so they can win later.
This is the 2nd edition of the CEV Coaches Convention and Ireland has been fortunate enough to be part of both opportunities. The event is linked together with the ‘Schools Project’ which we are delighted to be rolling out once again this year.
It was a great experience for our coaches to be involved in and Declan Ryan had this to say on his return “It was great to meet up with so many coaches from around the world to discuss all things volleyball. The event has given me ideas and advice that I look forward to trying here in Ireland.”
Apart from all the informal learning our coaches got to have with 161 other participants, they were able to listen, observe and discuss with panellists Kristof De Loose, Nicolas Sauerbrey, Thomas Bro-Rasmussen, Kåre Mol, and Giovanni Guidetti.
Volleyball Ireland thank our coaches who attended, and we will be working together to produce a workshop bringing all the learnings back to more coaches and teachers here in Ireland over the next few months.
Finally, we thank our friends at the CEV for facilitating such a great weekend and we are already looking forward to the next convention.
