Lamont & McNichols take 4th

Ireland’s Fiona Lamont and Lara McNichols took 4th place at the Snr. Small Countries Association Beach Championships last weekend. The UCD & Trinity College pairing battled hard losing out to Scotland’s experienced double act of Lynne Beattie and Mhairi Agnew in the bronze medal match. Earlier on they’d saw off young Ireland duo Angela Mulcahy and Aoife Burke before beating Scotland’s Wroblewska and Gillies in the quarters.

U20 team Laura Connolly and Grace Moloney were defeated by the overall winners Barbour/Morrison in the QF stage, after a fine win over Monaco’s Salsedo/Fuentes.

On the Men’s side the 18year old duo Ciagan Davoren and Liam Corcoran reached the last eight, after a brilliant performance to see off Northern Ireland’s Nicolas Skansen and Paddy Dally 2-0. They had hard fought games with Scotland and Monaco before they head off to Latvia for the u20EuroVolley later this week.

Stefan Potapov and Ethan Illien Moloney gained valuable experience in their development, as they 16 year olds prepare for EuroVolleyu18 in Madrid towards the end of August.

Special thanks to Scottish Volleyball for organising the event.
