Lubo Ganev visits Ireland

Volleyball Ireland were delighted to welcome Bulgarian Volleyball Federation President, and CEV Board Member Lyubomir ‘Lubo’ Ganev, to Dublin this weekend.

Lubo’s trip included progressive talks with VLY President Clodagh NicCanna ahead of the joint-hosting of the u20 Women’s European Championships next August. As well as discussing a range of ways in which Ireland and Bulgaria can work closer together.

He also shared some stories from his brilliant career at the highest level of the game, with the VLY community, which included a world record transfer fee, two Olympic Games and multiple individual records.

Lubo said, “I am delighted to make my first visit to Ireland, where I got to spend time with the Irish Volleyball community. I am already looking forward to my next trip, and building a lasting and productive relationship between our two Federations.”

Lubo took time to attend National Team training and provide a motivational talk with the Ireland’s Senior Men’s team.

Volleyball Ireland President Clodagh NicCanna was appreciative of Lubo’s visit adding, “Lubo is a great ambassador for Volleyball and his kind offer of support is brilliant for our development It was a wonderful weekend and I’m already looking forward to building our relationship further, especially as we host such a major tournament together next Summer”.
