Powerhouses Poland and Italy are the only unbeaten teams, after day 2 of the u20 Women’s European Championship pool B in Dublin.
Poland were decisive in a three nil victory 22/24/14 whilst Italy ran out comfortable winners with a similar scoreline 23/16/19.
Finland and Czechia battled hard, in a match that could have gone either way. Czechia got stronger as the match went on edging it 3-1 (25-20, 17-25, 25-18, 25-11).
In the day’s final match, Ireland battled hard and were competitive in the early stages of the opening sets but a powerful Ukraine proved too strong (12/11/8).
Day 3 promises some interesting matches with Portugal v Finland, Ireland v Czechia, Ukraine v Poland and the big match of the day Italy v Serbia at 8pm.
