2023 Schools Cup Fixtures Released

The eagerly anticipated fixtures for the VLY. Schools Cup 2023 have now been released. The Cup traditionally has been set up as a 1v1 knockout tournament however due to the higher increase in demand a new 2023 format of pool play has been approved by the School Commission. Although the VLY. school championships draw more teams to competitions this unique tournament provides the opportunity for players of all ages and levels to face off against each other.

Standing out from the list after the Round 1 draw in boys is the enticing fixture of Senior B Champions Dungarvan College paired up with the Senior C champions Kilkenny City VS.

The 2023 girls draw welcomes numerous new schools that will take to the court for the first time in VLY competitions. We wish all teams the best of luck as they work hard towards becoming Schools Cup Champions.

Conor Flood National Development Manager “The Schools Cup continues to grow each year as more teams are drawn towards what many coaches and players consider the school volleyball flagship tournament. This year has been extra interesting as it’s the first year boy entries have outnumbered girls. We are seeing a real shift towards boys engaging with our exciting sport in a school (and club) environment. For me one of the big attractions in Schools Cup is to see lower divisions seek that giant killing as they take on the A or B schools. With so many new schools this year it will be interesting to see how games progress.”
