Let’s meet this year’s finalists.
U16 Boys A – Sutton Park School VS Patrician HS @12.30
Sutton Park are looking for the double in both Senior and U16 Division A’s for this academic year. It’s been almost a decade since the last school (Drumshanbo VS) completed that feat, and it would mark a first ever for a Dublin school. Both Patrician and Sutton have taken the title recently enough. Sutton just two years ago and Patrician four. This will be EPIC!
U16 Girls A -Presentation Kilkenny VS Coláiste Muire @12.30
Similar to Sutton Park, the Ennis school Colaiste are seeking the double after a Senior Championship win back in December. Standing in their way are the formidable Pres. Kilkenny. They sweeped the Junior A Championship last season and so will be hoping to put a stop to Colaiste’s four in a row charge.
U16 Boys B –Dungarvan College VS St Francis College @ 2pm
It’s an all Munster affair as both teams lined with international pathway players take to the court to determine the 2026 champion. It has been 10 years since Dungarvan took this title home. For the Cork School St Francis this a first ever appearance and an opportunity to cement themselves into the VLY history books!
U16 Girls B- Kilkenny City VS vs Piper’s Hill College @2pm
The rise of Piper’s Hill in school volleyball has been nothing short of unbelievable. They have announced themselves and backed their volleyball up with performances that has seen them win titles in just a few short years. Can their girls match the boys B Senior title for this year? Facing them is Kilkenny City VS. No stranger to finals in recent years, the Leinster school has competed for multiple seniors but find themselves into their first U16 finals.
U16 Boys C -Coláiste Eoin VS Mungret CC @11am
Coláiste Eoin are having one hell of season. Their Senior Boys took home the title in late 2025 and now their U16s find themselves just two sets away from being National Champions once again. Standing in their way is Mungret CC. The limerick school is relatively new to 6v6 volleyball. Although achieving good results in 4v4 they have now stepped into the big game and boy have they delivered beating Clare, Galway, Roscommon and Limerick schools to earn their place in the final.
U16 Girls C- Alfasteiner SS VS Drumshanbo VS @11am
Drumshanbo Vocational and Alfasteiner SS have come through a Division of 56 teams. Neither have ever won this competition, Drumshanbo narrowly losing out last season ( 21-25, 25-13, 12-15) will aim to rectify that come Wednesday. Trying to stop them is Alfasteiner SS. It’s a second school representing the Banner county in this year’s finals, but more importantly a first ever Volleyball Final and one they will be hoping to be on the right side of come Wednesday afternoon.
