UCD and Santry Calypso Crowned National League Champions

Santry Calypso came from 2-sets down to win an invigorating Women’s Premier Division Grand Final. The North Dubliners backed up their League Leaders shield in style, with the powerful Giulia Fagiani and Middle Carly Donaghy proving the difference.

Gardians had come backs of their own in each of the first two sets and looked set to complete successive League and Cup doubles, but yesterday’s gruelling 5-set eliminator with UCD took its toll with Calypso getting stronger the deeper the match went, eventually winning out 26-28, 24-26, 25-19, 25-23, 15-8.

That’s Santry’s third ever league title after wins in 2003, 2013 and 2023.

In the Men’s final UCD were too strong for Aer Lingus with Simeon Elinchev and Jackson Barrett dominated as the Students claimed the League and Cup double 25-23, 25-22, 25-22, meaning the Belfielders win back to back league titles.
