Volleyball Ireland’s International Referee Giordano (Vinnie) Dos Santos heads to Romania this weekend to officiate in the U17 Men’s European Championships 2nd round stage.
The DVC man will be in the referee stand for the Israel-Romania game on Saturday at 19:00CET and the 2nd whistle for the Romania-Estonia (Friday, 7pm) and Estonia-Israel matches (Sunday 4pm).
Vinnie has recently completed the next phase of his FIVB International Referee accreditation with a 100% exam pass rate and is excited about the weekend, “I’m really looking forward to representing Ireland at this event and continuing my development and learning as an International Referee. Thank you to everyone in the Irish Volleyball Community that has supported me on the journey so far.”
Volleyball Ireland’s Board Member with responsibility for Education & Training Alfredo Aloi commented, “A key part of our strategy is to develop a clear pathway for referees all the way to International level, so we’re delighted Vinnie is showcasing what can be achieved. There are fantastic opportunities for people that wish to take up the whistle and we encourage everyone to consider taking part in a training course and our referee development programmes.”
