Volleyball Ireland are excited to launch a three part webinar series.

The chosen topics are primarily designed to support & educate parents and guardians, that are new to volleyball. But it’s also great for players, coaches, referees and volunteers who want learn about different aspects of Volleyball preparation.

Each webinar will feature a Q&A with our expert speakers. 

You can register to individual sessions but it is highly recommended to attend all three.

March 7th, Nutrition with Hannah Thornton

  • Hannah is a performance nutritionist working at Next Generation Health. Hannah works with a range of different clients everyday from high power CEO’s, Inter-county GAA star’s, professional athletes and young aspiring athletes. 
  • Hannah is also an International basketball athlete currently representing Ireland on the Senior Women’s national team- and has represented her country since she was 16. She is also the captain of DCU Mercy super league team.
  • Hannah’s passion lies within the areas of sport nutrition and works with athletes across a number of different areas including but not limited to-nutritional education, game day nutrition, injury nutrition and female health nutrition

March 11th, Strength & Conditioning with Maja Ban

Maja, currently holds the position of Head of Athletic Development for Volleyball Ireland. Alongside this role, she serves as an Assistant Coach for the female national teams.

Maja’s journey in the world of volleyball began in Croatia, where she not only played but also coached the sport. Her commitment to excellence led her to complete a Master’s degree in Kinesiology, specializing in volleyball. 

Maja is currently in the final stages of completing her Ph.D. in Sport Science, with a research focus on understanding the reasons for the success of national team players and their development.

Her goal is to empower athletes through her expertise, fostering their growth and success on and off the volleyball court.

Maja will explore the importance of where when and how to develop strength and conditioning.

March 20th, Volleyball 101 with Graham Bell

Graham is a FIVB level 2 coach with 12 years of full-time coaching experience (9 of which spent internationally in the German and Austrian top leagues, the U.A.E and England). As a player he represented Northern Ireland senior national teams for both Indoor and Beach. Also earning a  playing scholarship in University of East London where he study a BSc Sports Therapy degree.

His webinar is Volleyball 101. Where Graham will explain his principles behind how the game is played, differences in positional roles what strengths are required for them and the technical tools needed for athletes to realise their potential. 

This will be great for parents new to Volleyball!!
