Volleyball Ireland Secures High Performance Development Funding

Volleyball Ireland is delighted to share a major milestone in the development of our Beach Volleyball Performance programme, following the recent Sport Ireland announcement of High-Performance Development funding.

This marks the first time Volleyball has been included within Sport Ireland’s High-Performance system, as part of a record €28.5 million investment in high performance sport for 2026. It is a significant step forward for the sport in Ireland and a clear recognition of the progress being made with Beach Volleyball athletes.

This investment comes at an exciting time for Beach Volleyball in Ireland. The recent development of the new inland beach courts at the Sport Ireland Campus has been transformational, providing a dedicated, high-quality environment for training, competition, and development.

Ireland hosted an under 19’s European Zonal Beach Championship on the new courts , bringing international competition to home soil and showcasing the growing strength of the Beach programme. A standout moment from the event saw Ireland’s Holly Cassidy and Angela Mulcahy secure a 2nd place finish, earning qualification for the U20 European Championships later this year in September, a fantastic achievement and a sign of what’s to come.

President of Volleyball Ireland, Clodagh Nic Canna commented ‘We are extremely grateful to Sport Ireland for this funding and the new inland courts. Both have resulted in a huge boost and increase in momentum for our Performance Beach Programme. Our Performance Coach and athletes are excited about the future and the competitions ahead internationally. With this support we can prepare better and more in line with the competition our players will meet’.
