Women in Volleyball Conference – Register now

Volleyball Ireland is excited to announce the first ever Women in Volleyball Conference!
 
This educational and inspirational event will explore the opportunities and challenges surrounding women in sport today. In our first year, we have been fortunate to secure three leading experts, highlighted below, who will present on the day.
 
These workshops are open to players, coaches, referees, parents, and volunteers of any gender to come along for learnings and discussion.

Workshop 1: The Importance of Effective Communication as leaders in volleyball

Lisa Clancy is an internationally experienced senior professional with over 25 years’ experience in leadership, communications, marketing, finance and stakeholder engagement from grassroots clubs to governing bodies in Ireland and abroad.
She was named as one of the top 50 Women of Influence in Irish Sport 2021.

⭐She undertook the research and produced the recommendations for the first Sport Ireland Women in Sport Strategy.
⭐She has worked on developing strategies and communications for a number of sporting organisations including UEFA, Irish Athletic Boxing Association, IWA and Swim Ireland.
⭐She recently co-created and delivers a double award-winning Women In Sport Leadership Course for over 50 sporting bodies and 370 women at home and in Europe and is a mentor for leaders in sport.

Workshop 2: Nutrition for the female athlete

Hannah Thornton is a performance nutritionist and personal trainer. She is currently head nutritionist and owner at Next Generation Health. Next Generation Health works with all different types of athletes, from underage to professional, and the general population also, to help create a healthier generation in Ireland.

⭐Hannah worked at an elite sports-specific training facility in Colorado Springs where the focus was to transform young adults into top athletes.
⭐Working in High-Performance Team Development in the corporate world, Hannah shared the importance of health and performance with clients in different professions around the world. Regardless of culture, country or gender, Hannah’s message was consistent – focus on wellbeing, focus on nutrition, focus on resilience.

Workshop 3: "Grow the Human": creating an environment where all can flourish

Hannah Craig is Ireland’s first female Olympic finalist in the sport of canoeing. Hannah trained, lived, and competed internationally over a 20-year span cumulating in a unique blend of sporting, human and cultural experiences. Currently, she works with Canoeing Ireland in Innovation, Coach and Pathway Development.
