Over the academic year of 2024-25 we have brought forward some positive change to facilitate our vision for growth, in the coming years.
Check out below some of the things going on right now.
NEW PROGRAMMES!
We continue to work alongside CEV to strengthen our partnership on the School Project 2.0. In fact, earlier this year Ireland became one of the leading federations to jointly pilot a new way to teach volleyball to even younger children in 3rd and 4th classes. More contacts and more rallies, all leading to more FUN! This simple approach (named SmashVolley) delivers multiple levels for coaches/teachers to work with. Ultimately this will allow all levels of kids to be a part of volleyball in 2025-2026. Nationwide events as well as teacher supports will be announced ahead of the academic year!
BIGGEST NATIONAL FINALS EVER!
As new schools continue to take up our 4v4 volleyball game, VLY have made provisions with UL Sports Arena to deliver the largest Primary Championship Finals in our history. A total of 12 courts will be in full swing on March 7th as the winners and runners up in each of the regional blitzes take to the court. A total of 185 teams/ 1100+ kids started the journey on February 10th and at the end of this week we will crown our newest champions.
Arnolda Stankaitiene, VLY. Primary School Coordinator
“It has been a very exciting year for Primary Volley. These new programmes and bigger events will aim to impact player and coach experiences in volleyball for the better. In order to accommodate our vision for growth in the next 24 months, we must continually explore and implement change when needed for the growing memberships. February is always a busy month for primaries, and I want to welcome all the new schools joining us for the first time. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank those secondary schools that support us in delivering these events through halls and referees- Colaiste Muire-Ennis, St Brigid’s College-Loughrea, Ardscoil Mhuire-Ballinasloe, St Brigid’s Pres-Killarney, Presentation Kilkenny, Portlaoise College, Sutton Park School, & Coachford College, Cork.”
