Beach Volleyball School Championship

A beach volleyball school championship received unanimous support at the 2022 Schools’ AGM. In response to this, the first championship for schools on sand has been created for this coming May.

National Development Manager Conor Flood had this to say after the AGM. ” This is a new and exciting competition being rolled out. After a successful year indoor it will be great to see the schools take to the sand and try beach volleyball. We had seen significant growth and demand from junior club players last summer and so this is simply the next step in bringing more volleyball to more young players around the country. We will begin with an east and west competition for year one but expect to see an expansion of locations for events over the next 3 years. With such amazing beaches all over Ireland we will be able to bring volleyball to more counties”.

The school championship will add some modifications to help ease players from indoor to beach and also all newcomers to the sport. For more details on this and how to register your teams check out our webpage https://www.volleyballireland.com/schools-beach-volleyball-championship/

Additional educational opportunities and resources to learn more about beach volleyball for teachers and players will be rolling out in the coming weeks.

Upon finalising the dates, locations and times for the 2022 Championships Jennifer Moret, school commission member and head coach of the west development beach volleyball centre stated ” Beach volleyball is an exciting and fast paced sport that kids will really enjoy. The move to bring a school championship onto the sand is a positive one in my opinion. I see first hand each summer the benefits and fun that beach volleyball can bring to our young players”
