Volleyball Ireland were delighted to be invited to present and speak at four significant events over the last month.

Sport Ireland Good Governance Conference 23.11.23

VLY President Clodagh NicCanna was invited to join an expert panel at Sport Ireland’s Annual Governance Conference. Clodagh shared the work of the board in relation to ensuring the organisation is functioning effectively. She highlighted the importance of gender balance, age balance and diversity at decision-making level. She also shared some ways in which the Board ensures they remain focussed on strategy and hitting ambitious targets for growth.

Volleyball Ireland recently received an excellent external Governance audit report from Sport Ireland.

Welsh Sports Association Sustainability in Sport Conference 16.11.23

VLY Chief Executive Gary Stewart was invited to the inaugural Sustainability in Sport Conference in Cardiff. Gary shared the story of Volleyball Ireland’s work in this area and the opportunities it presents for smaller NGBs to attract partners through Sustainable Development. Two Irish ex-pats, the CEO of Swim Wales, Fergus Feeney and the Football Association of Wales CEO, Noel Mooney also presented.

Federation of Irish Sport Commercial Development 25.10.23

Patrick Haslett of Impact3Zero represented Volleyball Ireland to talk about the opportunities NGB’s have to grow partnerships through sustainable development. Patrick shared the work that he and Volleyball Ireland have been doing to position VLY as a leader in this space.

Sport Ireland and Sporting Pride let’s Get Visible 23.10.23

Gary joined a 4-person panel to share the work of Volleyball Ireland in relation to inclusion. Gary shared the story of DVC Bravo and their brilliant ‘words of support’ campaign, whilst highlighting the importance of consistent messaging related to inclusion. Putting inclusion in to the heart of your strategy is the most efficient way to grow participation.
