University College Dublin claimed a second Men’s Association Cup with a high-level performance at Kilkenny’s Watershed Arena. The first victory since 2015 was built on the power of Simeon Elinchev and the quality of Jackson Barrett, with Sam Edghim a monster at the net.
The Belfield Club ran out 3:1 winners (28-26, 25-22, 15-25, 25-23) in a match that excited a sometimes raucous crowd throughout. They didn’t have it all their own way with Lubor Holanda pulling the strings with such subtlety and Felipe Viana Paulinho a constant menace.
